Nymphing Maniac Fishing

From the vice.
To the river.

Hand-tied flies, time on the water, and a passion for Euro-nymphing. Welcome to my corner of the river.

A life measured
in drifts.

I’m Adrian, the angler behind NymphingManiacFishing. My fishing centres on Euro-nymphing for brown trout on Scotland’s River Don.

This is where I bring it all together: the flies I tie, the fishing I share on YouTube, and lessons on the river. From reading pocket water to finding a better drift, there’s always something to learn.

Guiding & lessons with Adrian

Fly fishing.
More than a hobby.

I’m Adrian, the angler and fly tier behind NymphingManiacFishing. I’m passionate about fly fishing — you could say I’m completely addicted. From time at the vice to that moment the sighter stops, it’s the little details that keep me coming back.

Euro-nymphing for brown trout on Scotland’s River Don is at the heart of my fishing. I love exploring how the water moves, choosing a fly and working out how to present it. Sharing that passion is what I want my guiding and lessons to be about.

Whether you’re making your first cast or looking to improve your drift, we’ll focus on your experience, your questions and what you want to learn. The aim is to help you understand the decisions behind each cast and build confidence on the river.

Your time on the water

Half a day or a full day.
Make it your own.

Choose a guided session, a focused lesson, or a mixture of both. Alongside Euro-nymphing, I can also cover spider fishing, dry-dropper fishing and jig streamers. We can focus on one method or explore different approaches to suit your interests and the river conditions. We’ll discuss the format, location and learning goals before confirming your day.

Beginner

Build your foundations.

Start with the tackle and work towards a confident first drift. No question is too basic.

  • Rod, reel and line setup — through to leader, tippet and fly
  • Choosing flies, bead weights and simple knots
  • Basic casting, accuracy and fly placement
  • Understanding and reading the sighter
  • Maintaining contact and recognising takes
  • Striking, playing and safely releasing fish
  • Approaching the river and wading with care
Advanced

Make every drift count.

Explore the details that help you adapt your presentation and make more informed decisions.

  • Reading water: seams, pockets, riffles and likely holding spots
  • Creating a natural drift and spotting unwanted drag
  • Weight control: bead size, depth and sink rate
  • Leader angles, rod position and managing contact
  • Adjusting casting position and presentation for different currents
  • Working pocket water and covering a run methodically
  • Adapting fly selection and approach as conditions change

Let’s plan your river time.

Tell me your preferred date, half-day or full-day preference, experience level, number of anglers and what you’d like to learn — Euro-nymphing, spider fishing, dry-dropper or jig-streamer fishing. I’ll confirm availability and the applicable per-person price before accepting your booking.

Request a date ↗

Every request is subject to my availability and suitable river conditions. I may decline requests when I’m busy. An enquiry does not reserve a date; your session is only booked once I personally confirm it.
